THE WAKE-UP CALL
HEY, MAN. ARE YOU IN THERE?…
GENTLEMEN, WELCOME TO RNDM2SDY!
A community for dads who are OVERWORKED AND UNDERPLAYED.
RNDM2SDY exists to help dads break the routine, rediscover what makes them feel alive, and become the most interesting dad in the room. One adventure at a time.
Each week we provide:
Something tactical (The Field Guide)
Something practical (The Toolbox)
Something actionable (R2 Side Quest)
Community highlights (Because sharing is caring!)
And a little dad humor to go along…
It’s time to let the adventurous side of you out to play!
R2 Side Quests: Every Tuesday, we introduce one R2 Side Quest: a shared challenge to get you trying something new, reviving an old hobby, learning a new skill, or heading outside.
Complete it on your own time, at your own pace.
Then share your experience by tagging us @RNDM2SDY and using #RNDM2SDY.
One week, you might dust off your mountain bike while another dad across the country takes his kids riding. Different places, different stories, one shared adventure.
Along the way, we’ll celebrate the wins, swap ideas, laugh at the mishaps, and build friendships around actually doing things—even when our schedules rarely line up.
You can bring the kids, invite a friend, or take a little time for yourself. Start small. Make room for something you’ll enjoy remembering.
Because your kids will remember more than what you provided. They’ll remember the things you did together, and the man that you were — your curiosity, your enthusiasm, your willingness to learn new things.
If you haven’t already, grab your FREE R2 Side Quest Journal to record the discoveries, ridiculous moments, and memories you collect on your journey.
A year from now, you could still be living in the past, telling the same old stories—or you could have a journal full of new stories worth telling.
Welcome to RNDM2SDY. Your next adventure starts today.

THE FIELD GUIDE
(RANDOM WEEKLY TOPIC - NO HOLDS BARRED)
YOU DON’T NEED MORE MOTIVATION. YOU NEED A LOWER BARRIER TO ENTRY.
Ever spend 45 minutes researching the perfect workout routine, another 45 shopping for equipment, and then end up on the couch eating Doritos?
Congratulations. You've successfully turned getting in shape into a spectator sport.
In his bestselling book Atomic Habits, James Clear introduces the Two-Minute Rule: When starting a new habit, make the first step something you can accomplish in less than two minutes.
The idea? Make getting started so ridiculously easy that you have no excuse not to do it.
Want to get in shape? Put on your running shoes and walk outside.
Want to read more? Read one page before bed.
Want to learn guitar? Pick it up and play for two minutes.
Want to start hiking? Pick a trail and put it on your calendar.
Clear also introduces habit stacking, which means attaching a new habit to something you already do automatically.
Here's the formula:
After I [existing habit], I will [new habit].
For example, after pouring your morning coffee, do 10 push-ups. After brushing your teeth, read one page.
YOUR MISSION
Pick ONE thing you've been putting off.
Shrink the first step to two minutes or less.
Attach it to something you already do daily.
Repeat for seven days.
The goal isn't to transform your life overnight. It's to become the kind of guy who actually follows through.
And if two minutes is too much, remember: you spend more time scrolling on the toilet.
You can spare the time.
BREAK THE ROUTINE. LIVE A BIGGER STORY.

THE TOOLBOX
ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR EVERY DAD
JUMP-START A CAR: If you can’t jumpstart a car, you can’t dodge a ball (or something like that).
With the cold, dark winter on our heels, you have a decent chance or either needing a jump or coming across someone that needs a jump. Jumpstarting a car should be a relatively quick and simple process, and you don’t want to be stuck trying to figure it out while Jack Frost nips at your nether regions. If you can remember this phrase, you’re prepared to save the day:
Red Dead, Red Good, Black Good, Under the Hood
Attach the jumper cables in this order and you’re good to go.
To perform the jump:
Turn donor car off
Attach cables (in the order described above)
Start donor car
Wait 3-5 minutes
Start dead car
If the dead car starts, they’ll need to drive for 15-30 minutes to give the alternator enough time to fully recharge the battery.
If it doesn’t start, wait a few more minutes and try again.
If it still doesn’t start, tell them “sucks to suck” and give em a wink as you start your car. Don’t forget to yell out the window, “should have subscribed to RNDM2SDYYY!!!” as you drive off.
That, or offer them a ride.
A Few Basic Safety Precautions:
Never let the metal clamps touch each other once you start making connections.
Keep cables clear of moving engine parts like fans or belts.
The final ground connection (black clamp) should be attached to unpainted metal, NOT the negative terminal on the dead battery. Making the final negative connection to a remote, unpainted metal surface on the dead car—rather than directly to the dead battery's negative terminal—is the most critical safety rule.
Not to be dramatic or anything, but lead-acid batteries produce hydrogen gas as a byproduct of charging and discharging. If you make the final electrical connection directly at the dead battery post, any resulting spark can ignite this trapped gas and cause the battery to explode. Moving that final spark-prone connection away from the battery housing keeps the fire hazard far from the gas source. Think hydrogen bomb IN YO FACE!
Let’s not blow our balls off.
Reverse the order to remove the cables and off you go. 🚗💨
